Valley Generating Station is a natural gas-fired power plant located in Vernon, California, in the United States. The plant has a generating capacity of 1,050 megawatts and is owned by LS Power Group. It was constructed in 2001 and is equipped with three General Electric combustion turbine generators, which utilize natural gas as their primary fuel source. The plant also has a steam turbine generator that is powered by the exhaust of the combustion turbines, which increases efficiency. Valley Generating Station provides electricity to Southern California through the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA). The plant has been recognized for its advanced technology and environmentally friendly operations, including an air-cooled system for turbine cooling that minimizes water usage.
